REV. JIM RHAESA serves as Trinity's Pastor of Senior's Ministries. In this position, Jim works with the senior adult ministries of the church, offering weekly visits and delivering sermons and worship service CD's to our shut-in members as well as those living in local retirement homes.
Jim was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and came to Kansas to attend Sterling College. After graduation, he attended Pittsburg Seminary in Pennsylvania, where he obtained his Masters of Divinity degree. Jim is an ordained Presbyterian Pastor (but we love him anyway!).
Jim has served Presbyterian USA, Disciples of Christ, and United Methodist churches in several places in Kansas, including the communities of Denison, Lincoln, Jetmore, Salina, Leavenworth, and Overland Park. He served as Senior Pastor in most cases and as Pastor of Adult Education and Evangelism in the Overland Park congregation. Jim then served for ten years as Executive Director of Heartland Presbyterian Center, a retreat facility located at Parkville, Missouri, before "retiring" from active ministry in 1996.
In retirement, Jim remained active as a substitute teacher in public schools and as a parent aide teaching "Love and Logic" classes in the Kansas City area S.R.S. system. Jim and his wife, Barbara, moved to Hutchinson in 2006 and began attending Trinity and singing in our Chancel Choir. Shortly thereafter, we snagged Jim to serve on our staff! They have 6 children and 9 grandchildren.
